About the Artist:

More than twenty years ago I began making quilts. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Michigan, I discovered that putting together pieces of colored, patterned fabric to create a two-dimensional composition with three dimensions – a quilt – was like painting and sculpting combined. In 1995, one of my quilts, October, was chosen to be part of a national juried quilt exhibition called "Innovative Traditions" in Stony Brook, New York. More recently, my quilt, The Promise, was selected for "Art Quilts Lowell 2007", a national juried exhibition in Lowell, Massachusetts. I apply my knowledge of traditional quilting methods, my love of early 20th century Amish quilts, and my training as a fine artist to create colorful, contemporary, and original wall quilts. I've also earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan, and enjoy working as a therapist in private practice. Making quilts continues to be a true passion and joy.
